Resolved Pain in Pelvis Floor

Ever since giving birth to my firstborn, the first two days of my menstrual cycle will always be coupled with extreme soreness in my pubic area. I assume it is due to the weakening of the pelvic floor muscles as a result of childbirth. It can be rather crippling as I will not be able to carry heavy weights (can't carry my children) due to the pain, and will have to sit down or even lie down in order for the pain to stop. This has been ongoing for four years. I would like to ask if this is a common problem? What is the cause? Does this pose any long term health concerns? And if there is anything that can be done to help alleviate the pain? Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear that you are in pain every month. While it is true that pregnancy and childbirth can put strain on the pelvic floor muscles, leading to conditions such as pelvic organ prolapse, it is less common for the symptoms to only happen at a specific time of your menstrual cycle. I would recommend that you make an appointment with a gynae to get checked up, so that the problem can be properly diagnosed and managed.
