My kid looks more plump than others of the same age. I find it cute, but at the same time, a little worrying as I'm afraid that his obesity may lead to other health issues. Parents around me are also concerned about their kids becoming obese. Should I be concerned about children being overweight or obese?

A bit of extra chubbiness may look cute on a 3-month-old baby, but if excess adiposity continues till early childhood, toddlerhood and the teenage years, you may end up having many health problems as an adult.

Numerous studies have shown that overweight adults have a higher risk of diabetes, heart disease, hypertension and cancer compared to normal weight individuals.

Start to address this growing problem from a young age, to prevent further health problems later on in life.
